Seventeen year old Madeline, who goes by Maddie, has been fascinated by archeology, history and culture since she was a young girl. She loves to write stories, study, and is an avid reader. She’s a lover of learning and is even studying University courses all on her own! Maddie was diagnosed with Medullablastoma in June of 2014, which is a type of brain tumor. With 137 overnights in the hospital, 7 surgeries, and the loss of ability to eat and walk, cancer has taken a toll on Maddie’s body, but not her wit and spirit. Maddie’s most heartfelt wish is a trip to explore the history and culture of Ireland. The Children’s Wish Foundation is hoping to bring Maddie to beautiful Ireland in the fall before she starts more chemotherapy in October. Maddie has been eagerly researching Ireland by reading every book she can get her hands on in preparation for her adventure!
